Sarah Burrous
Instructor
I first came to Front Range boxing in 2011 and began teaching the Women's Boxing class in 2012. I boxed competitively in that first year and hold a Golden Gloves championship.
Sport have always been in my life from a young age. I've played soccer, baseball, football, softball, track and field, and swimming. Most recently I played for the Boulder County Bombers roller derby team for about a year.
My husband and our two young kiddos live in Longmont and we are always playing and running around having fun. I work as a high school counselor and am an assistant coach for the school softball team. Boxing continues to rise to the top for me. While boxing is a stress relief there is no way I can box angry. Boxing is technical, methodical, and one of the hardest and most rewarding sports I have ever done. You have to rely on your own training when you box, there is no team, just you and your opponent.
Lucy Kennedy-Walker
Instructor
Lucy's athletics didn't start in the ring -- she was a competitive fencer for years, and she represented her college on the varsity squad as well as participating individually in numerous national competitions.
While in law school in Boston, she attended a boxing class on a dare and was immediately hooked. By the time she moved to Colorado in 2014, she'd traded in her epee for a pair of gloves.
In addition to boxing and lawyering, Lucy is an avid runner, hiker, and cyclist. Lucy welcomed a baby girl in February of 2019 and is pretty shameless about her hopes that the kid winds up a southpaw.
Cole Rupenski
Instructor
Cole began his boxing journey in 2002 at the 4th St. Gym in St. Petersburg, Florida, while pursuing a psychology degree at the University of Florida. He honed his craft in various gyms across the state, learning the "sweet science" under the guidance of accomplished trainers, including Jr. Olympic coach Lee Gladden and renowned professional trainer Jim McGloughlin. Since then, boxing has remained a central part of his life.
Whether you're looking to build a strong fitness routine, relieve stress, or master the art of boxing, Cole is dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.
Lou Rubino
Weight Room Coordinator
Lou has been the weight room coordinator at Front Range Boxing since 1996, and has been involved in boxing since 1984 where he was a member of the prestigious Boardman Boxing Club from 1984 to 1989.
Lou was a Volunteer Assistant for Colorado University Buff's Speed, Strength and Conditioning Program (under Doctor Kreis) from 1995 to 2003.
In life, Lou is an Attorney for Platinum Entertainment (Thell Torrence, pres.) since 1992, and has been a noted Attorney in Boulder since 1981.
Jeff Rehman
Instructor
I have been boxing training off and on since 1981 and interestingly enough, our friend Lou Rubino was my first unofficial trainer when we both trained together at the University of Colorado. I fought in the Colorado Golden Gloves in 1982 and placed 2nd as a novice.
Boxing has been what I call 'percussive therapy' and has gone a long way to outwardly express and soothe life's many challenges. The conditioning isn't half bad either. I've had the privilege of meeting and working out with some wonderful souls as well along the way. FRBA has been the primary place for my having met some stellar athletes and people in the sport of boxing.
Professionally, I am a Fire Fighter/Paramedic and have been in this line of work since 1989. I also made a YouTube video in 2012 that went quite viral and has been credited with saving quite a few lives worldwide. I have 2 beautiful grown daughters, a terrific son-in-law, and an adorable lil' grandson as well.
I'm privileged and honored that Dave has taken me in the FRBA family.
